Event Overview: GET ZET -Celebrating 200 Outreach Events to Accelerate Zero-Emission Trucking

CoEZET IIT Madras commemorated a significant milestone with the completion of 200 outreach events conducted across India. By engaging directly with drivers, mechanics, and fleet operators, the initiative strengthened the vital workforce that keeps India’s logistics moving

The flagship event, “GET ZET: Shifting Gears to Zero-Emission Trucking,” brought together leaders from the government, industry, and the energy sector to advance the dialogue on electrification of India’s trucking industry and pave the way for a sustainable freight ecosystem.

Event Highlights

Following the welcome of distinguished guests, Prof. Karthick Athmanathan, Professor of Practice, IIT Madras, set the context for the event. Emphasizing the critical need to integrate user insights into policy and technology development to drive the future of zero-emission trucking.

Keynote Address

Dr. Hanif Qureshi, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Heavy Industries, delivered a compelling keynote on India’s momentum in commercial vehicle electrification. He emphasized that the acceleration of zero-emission trucking hinges on a synergy between robust policy frameworks, cutting-edge innovation, and deep multi-stakeholder collaboration.

Industry and Government Perspectives

  • Prashant K. Banerjee, CEO & Director, SIAM, highlighted the automotive industry’s pivotal role in securing India’s energy independence and accelerating electric trucking.
  • Dhiraj Kumar Srivastava, Chief Engineer, Ministry of Power & Director General, BEE, outlined infrastructure readiness and energy efficiency goals.

Voices from the Ground

The event’s most resonant segment, “Voices From the Ground,” brought the backbone of the logistics industry - drivers, fleet operators, and mechanics- face-to-face with key decision-makers.

This interactive session served as a vital platform for stakeholders to share practical experiences and voice real-world operational concerns. By facilitating this direct dialogue to co-create solutions, CoEZET reinforced its commitment to a people-centric and inclusive transition - one that empowers the essential workforce behind the wheel.
