DESIGN AND STUDY OF SINGLE-PHASE / THREE-PHASE DIODE BRIDGE RECTIFIER
Rectifier is an electronic circuit that converts an input AC voltage into a DC voltage at the output terminal. Our lab conducts thorough experiments for
- Understanding the principle of operation of a diode bridge rectifier to convert alternating current (AC) into direct current (DC)
- To study the effect of different types of filters on output voltage
- Analysis of input current variations, power factor, and total harmonic distortion (THD) with different filters.
- Understanding the single-phase grid-side requirements in terms of THD and power factor and the need for power factor correction
DESIGN AND STUDY OF SINGLE-PHASE / THREE-PHASE BOOST PFC CIRCUIT
Power Factor Correction (PFC) shapes the input current of the power supply to be in synchronization with the mains voltage, in order to maximize the real power drawn from the mains. The three phase boost PFC circuits have many applications such as energy storage systems, Electric Vehicle (EV) charging, high power applications. This experiment helps in
- Understanding the principle of operation of a single-phase Boost PFC.
- Understanding the principle of operation of a three-phase PFC circuit
- Analysis of the boost PFC under different control techniques.
- Achieving unity power factor by using closed-loop control.
- Selection and Sizing of passive components

DESIGN AND STUDY OF OFF-BOARD CHARGER
Off-board chargers are crucial in electric vehicle (EV) and battery charging infrastructure, designed to convert grid AC power into a regulated DC output for efficient battery charging. The objective of the experiment is
- Understanding the principle of operation of an Off-Board charger.
- Study of grid side and battery side requirements of the off-board charger.
- Selection and Sizing of passive components.
- Closed loop operation of off-board battery charger.
